Why is it that candles are so popular for weddings? They are an inexpensive, easy way to create a ‘sense of occasion’. Candlelight adds sparkle to your reception table, reflecting off the crystal and silver. Whether you use pillar candles or tapers, it is an easy way to create a classy centerpiece.
CANDLE FAVORS
Candle wedding favors are a popular choice not only as a wedding favor, but to enhance your theme by using them to decorate your reception tables. Candles can be used on your guest tables as well as on the head table and buffet tables. You can group them, as in this picture, or you can go with a single taper candle accented with flowers.
Floating candles are a great idea for beach weddings. You can create an easy centerpiece with a glass container filled with water and water pearls, with a floating candle or two on top. For those couples choosing a destination wedding, you don’t want to fill a suitcase with all kinds of decorations. Your destination hotel will have some kinds glass containers. Water pearls are tiny….you soak a package of them to create over a gallon of water pearls. They come in many colors to match your decor. Fill the container with water, and float a candle or two on top. One wedding I attended used the water pearls in martini glasses, and they created a lovely centerpiece by adding a few pillar candles.
DESTINATION WEDDINGS
One of the considerations you will have with a destination wedding is the amount of space in your suitcase. Most destination weddings are casual and informal, and the last thing you need is a suitcase full of decorations. Always check with your reception location to see what kinds of table centerpieces they have—and then you can augment that if you choose.
